How to Launch A Remote Patient monitoring platform

Setting up a Remote Patient Monitoring Practice is a great way to engage your patients every day and keep their health on track. The market is now flooded with many RPM programs and it can be difficult to find a solid program that will actually help your patients. Here are a few tips on what you should  look for when selecting a program.

What type of information do you want to collect from your patients? Different practice groups have different needs. For example, if you are a cardiologist, you are more likely to monitor your patient’s blood pressure, so having bluetooth blood pressure cuffs and pulse ox devices integrated into your patient’s app would be a valuable addition. If your focus is on diabetic patients, bluetooth glucometers would be more useful for you and your patients.

How easy is the platform to use? Many patients that participate in an RPM program tend to be older, and are most likely not tech savvy. Selecting a complicated or clunky system can actually deter those patients from ever even trying your program. Make sure to select a platform that keeps the needs of older patients in mind, with a minimal number of clicks and steps for them to follow.

Is the program customizable? Each medical practice is unique, and you want to be in control of what information you can collect from your patients. Make sure the platform you select can be tailored to your needs, and customized for your patients to have an optimal experience.

Is it fun? When we think about taking care of patients, often we just think about the basics. But in order to get your patients to actually use the platform and engage with it on a daily or weekly basis, you want to make sure it is something they look forward to doing. Gamified apps are designed to keep patients consistently engaged, which ultimately helps them stick to your program.
