What are aspirations?

If you were asked what your aspirations are, what would you say? According to a poll conducted in 2015, the top three answers were:

  • Starting a family or spending time with family
  • Being happy
  • Being debt free

But what are aspirations? Most of us would probably answer that they are something related to our hopes and dreams, or to become the best versions of ourselves.

In order to make any dream into a reality, it takes more than just wishful thinking. It takes planning, consistency, and charting a path forward which is based in reality, and in the end, is doable.

For example, if you’ve never worked out and want to be able to bench 150 pounds, you won’t be able to just do it without risking serious injury to yourself. The wiser course of action would be to chart a path forward by setting a routine to consistently bench progressively heavier weights over time.

This sounds quite simple to do on the surface, but there’s a lot more involved than just planning. Next we will explore what are some of the hiccups along the way that prevent us from achieving a path to our dreams. Probably THE biggest hurdle we come up against is none other than Expectations.
